Discover the fantastic world of Jurassic fossils in the Prehistoric Museum Aalen, the largest municipal museum of geology and palaeontology in the south of Germany. Over 1,000 unique fossils including impressive reconstructions of prehistoric creatures and models are displayed on the three floors of the museum, guiding visitors through the Mesozoic Era of the eastern Swabian Alb. Fascinating fossils of prehistoric fish, giant ammonites, fossilized sea urchins, starfish or delicate prehistoric corals bear witness to the marine past of our region and impress the visitor with their unique preservation and beauty.

The collection is maintained by the Ostalb Geology Group which is constantly adding to it as they make new findings. Special features: „Touch a fossil“ and video station, lectures and excursions in association with the Ostalb Geology Group.

Opening hours
daily except Mondays: 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., open on public holidays.
Groups welcome at any time by prior arrangement.
