The UNESCO Global Geopark Swabian Alb, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, can no longer be overlooked in the Ostalbkreis district. For the first time, two signs have been installed to recognise the UNESCO Global Geopark Swabian Alb.

The Danube seepage in the Donaubergland region has now been recognised as the 38th Geopoint of the UNESCO Global Geopark Swabian Alb. The unique natural phenomenon, where the Danube temporarily dries up, is an important geological highlight of the region. Three new information pavilions along the Danube cycle path provide visitors with detailed information and allow them to experience the geopoint. The award strengthens the educational mission of the Geopark and emphasises the geological uniqueness of the Swabian Alb.
