The Geopark's Working Committee Met in Schelklingen
On Friday, September 11, the Working Committee of the UNESCO Global Geopark Schwäbische Alb met in Schelklingen. During the joint discussion among experts from the 10 member counties, the focus was on current developments and projects, as well as the future direction of the geopark.
Among other topics, the meeting addressed digital development and public relations efforts. Cooperation with the counties and municipalities, as well as various projects planned for 2027, were also discussed. The meeting provided an opportunity to share experiences, contribute ideas, and discuss the next steps to be taken collectively.
Whether it’s the “Frag Moni” project, the OOH poster campaign, the new Geopark quality seal on mein.Toubiz, or the planning of new Geopark signs: Suggestions and feedback from the working committee are a valuable asset to the Geopark’s work and help us view and further develop projects from different perspectives. At the most recent meeting, expertise from the counties was sought for numerous planned and ongoing projects.
Raising awareness of the UNESCO Geopark remains a key focus of our work. Since the last meeting in the spring, the Geopark has been present at several major public events, such as the Danube Festival. Experience shows that there is great interest in the Geopark’s work. In the future, a stronger presence in individual counties is planned. In 2027, the Geopark will be featured at events such as the CMT and the Garden Show in Bad Urach.
Looking ahead was also a priority: With the update of the master plan, the Geopark’s goals and tasks for the coming years will be further refined.
