Albschtoi – our wandering stones want to travel!
To mark our 10th anniversary as a UNESCO Global Geopark Schwäbische Alb on July 17, 2025, we launched a very special campaign: 110 individually painted hiking stones – our “Albschtoi” – were presented to the guests at the celebration.
Each of these stones is a lovingly designed unique piece, painted by students from our Geopark partner schools. The motifs depict animals, plants, places, or landscapes that are typical of the Swabian Alb. With this campaign, we not only want to promote creativity and awareness of nature, but also create a connection between people, landscape, and geological diversity.
Join in – send your Albschtoi on a journey!
Everyone who has received an Albschtoi is now invited to pass the stone on—for example, during their next walk or excursion in the Geopark area. The stones should be placed in a clearly visible location—e.g., on a bench, at a hiking sign, at the entrance to a visitor center, museum, etc., or at another location where it has a real chance of being discovered.
Here's how it works:
What should be photographed:
- the painted front
- the labeled back (with hashtag and logos)
- the location where the stone was laid out
Share your Albschtoi on social media:
- in our Facebook group Albschtoi, which we set up specifically for this purpose,
- or on Instagram using the hashtag printed on the back of the stone
(e.g., #Albschtoi #88512SM4b).
Write a short text about it:
- Where did you get or find the stone?
- Where did you put it back?
- Name the stone's hashtag.
Become part of Albschtoi history!
We appreciate every contribution, every photo, and every new Albschtoi station! This creates a growing collection of little stone stories that reflect our shared love for the Swabian Alb.
