The Swabian Alb has a long tradition of brewing. The clear water, local ingredients and the region’s agricultural character provide ideal conditions for brewing beer. Many small, family-run breweries continue to preserve traditional brewing methods to this day. They form an important part of the regional culture and contribute to the culinary diversity of the Swabian Alb. The Berg Brewery, one of the oldest breweries, has been in existence since 1466. Even today, visitors can see the historic well from which the brewing water is drawn, and enjoy speciality beers and typical Swabian dishes such as lentils and Spätzle at the brewery’s restaurant.
