"Olgahöhle" (Olga's Cave)

Olgahöhle (Gemeinde Lichtenstein)The cave was named after Queen Olga of Württemberg. It is located in the major tufa terrace which fills much of the Echaz valley near Honau. It is therefore not a karst cave, formed by dissolving limestone, like virtually every other cave in the Swabian Alb but a tufa cave. Olga's Cave is 123 m long and is characterized by special cauliflower-shaped sinter deposits which have been formed by the encrustation of certain algae.
