"Tiefenhöhle Laichingen" (The Laichingen Pothole)
No other cave shows the karst topography of the Alb, the stockwork deposits and rock structure as impressively as this one. It is the deepest accessible show cave in Germany. The complicated labyrinth-like cave system with its tunnel-like passageways, shafts and cave galleries has a total length of about 1,200 m and a depth of 80 m. Visitors reach a depth of 55 m. The tourist route is about 320 m long. In the visitors' centre above the cave entrance, there is a Museum of Speleology (Geopark Infocentre) providing an interesting insight into the fascinating world of caves. The Museum of Speleology and the Laichingen Pothole provide a unique combined source of information on the subject of "karst landscape and caves" in the Swabian Alb.
Laichingen Pothole and the Museum of Speleology are open from Palm Sunday until the end of the autumn holidays in Baden-Württemberg daily from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
