"Gußmannshöhle" (Gußmann's Cave)
Gußmann's Cave is a fissure cave with several narrow and high passageways which lead into four large chambers. It is located only about 100 m away from Gutenberg Cave. It was formed in the Lower Chalk formation of the White Jurassic. Electric lighting was installed early in the cave, so that the impressive stalactites and stalagmites were not exposed to sooty torches for long. Deep shafts, high-reaching ceiling cracks, sinter curtains, picturesque dripstones, a water-filled sinter basin and ceiling sinter formations make a visit to this cave an unforgettable experience.
May to October: Sat von 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., Sun and public holidays 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The Gußmann's cave is a geopoint since September 2016.
