Find spots of Ice Age art

Hohlenstein Stadel (Reiner Enkelmann)As a landscape with a high cave density, the Alb offered Ice Age animals, for example, plenty of special habitats and the Stone Age people then used these caves for themselves. The Swabian Alb can therefore rightly be considered one of the cradles of human culture. The caves are also of particular archaeological interest as a unique archive of cultural history and in most of the caves you can find traces of human existance. The most important find spots are:

Vogelherdhöhle
finds: eg. mammoth

Hohle Fels
finds: eg. Venus

Geißenklösterle
finds: eg. bone flute

Hohlenstein-Stadel
finds: eg. lion man

Since July 2017 these caves are part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
